Best Buy Settles Calif. Discrimination Class Action

Law360, New York (June 17, 2011, 8:44 PM EDT) -- Best Buy Co. Inc. has reached a proposed settlement in a long-running class action accusing the company of denying job opportunities to blacks, Latinos and women, according to a motion for preliminary settlement approval filed in California on Friday.

The settlement agreement, if ultimately approved, would end more than five years of litigation by requiring the retail electronics giant to adopt a detailed four-year consent decree designed to encourage the hiring and promotion of female and minority candidates.
