Illinois Lawmakers Urge FCC To OK Tribune Request

Law360, New York (May 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of 14 Illinois congressmen have asked the Federal Communications Commission chairman to act swiftly on Tribune Co.’s request for temporary exemption from new cross-media ownership rules in an attempt to protect the company’s $8.2 billion sale.

“We believe that prompt consideration of the merits of the Tribune Company’s application is in the public interest and would be very grateful if you would give this matter your personal attention and act upon these applications in a timely fashion,” the lawmakers said in the letter to...
