Nortel Settles Copyright, Trade Secrets Suit Vs. Internet Exchange

Law360, New York (November 10, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Canadian telecom company Nortel Networks Corp. has settled a copyright and trade secrets case it brought in July against Arbinet-thExchange Inc., an internet-based business-to-business trading exchange.

As part of the settlement, Arbinet will pay an undisclosed amount to Nortel. Nortel has agreed to dismiss the lawsuit, which was pending in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the company said.

The lawsuit claimed that Arbinet infringed copyrights and misappropriated trade secrets by using, without authorization, proprietary software of Nortel.
