Insurers To Shell Out $65.5M For Lead Paint Claims

Law360, New York (June 21, 2011, 4:10 PM EDT) -- A Louisiana state court on Monday began notifying potential class members that a group of insurance companies had agreed to pay $65.5 million to settle claims that lead paint in New Orleans public housing sickened thousands of children.

The settlement fund will be created with contributions from separate settlement agreements with National Union Fire Insurance Co., Lexington Insurance Co., U.S. Fire Insurance Co., Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association, Starr Indemnity & Liability Co., Scottsdale Insurance Co. and Travelers Insurance Co, the court notice said.
