Digital Camera Makers Face Patent Challenges

Law360, New York (November 11, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a sign of the increasing litigation over lucrative patent rights for digital cameras, four of the world’s top camera makers are trying to fend off a lawsuit by a tiny Michigan company that already has won large jury awards against major photography companies such as Canon Inc. and Sony Corp.

St. Clair Intellectual Property Consultants Inc., founded by lawyers and with six staff members, has won cases against Canon and Sony and has settled with six other companies.
