Artists Drop Lime Wire Suit Against CBS Site

Law360, New York (July 5, 2011, 6:29 PM EDT) -- A group of musicians and filmmakers on Monday dropped a California lawsuit that accused CBS Interactive Inc. and its website CNET of “massive copyright infringement” because they allowed users to download the file-sharing application Lime Wire.

The plaintiffs said that they intend to sue CBS over “many thousands of songs and other copyrighted works” — rather than the few dozen they claimed in this lawsuit — so it will be more efficient to simply drop the suit and refile it later in modified form.
