Trustee, New Century Clash Over Examiner's Role

Law360 (May 25, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sub-prime lender New Century Financial Corp. has contested a request by the U.S. Trustee Office to expand the scope of an examination of its bankruptcy case in light of a company disclosure last week regarding its 2006 financial statements.

In a letter to the court Friday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, an attorney in the office of U.S. Trustee Kelly Beaudin Stapleton asked that the scope of the examination be expanded due to a New Century filing Thursday with the U.S....
