Judge Stays Motorola Suit Over TiVo DVR Patents

Law360, New York (July 6, 2011, 9:39 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Wednesday stayed Motorola Mobility Inc.'s case that seeks to invalidate two TiVo Inc. digital video recording patents, saying the litigation can wait until another suit involving the same patents is resolved.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Caroline M. Craven of the Eastern District of Texas granted TiVo's request for a stay, pausing the suit for six months while TiVo's patent infringement suit against Verizon Communications Inc., which is set to go to trial in October in the same court, is resolved.
