Wolfson Infringed Cirrus Patent On Audio Chips, ITC Rules

Law360 (November 16, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has found that Scottish chip maker Wolfson Microelectrics PLC infringed a patent held by U.S. rival Cirrus Logic Inc., but found another Cirrus patent unenforceable, Wolfson said.

An Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) of the ITC informed Wolfson that three Wolfson audio digital-to-analogue converter products infringed Cirrus Logic’s U.S. patent no. 6,011,501, Wolfson said.

The judge has recommended a limited exclusion order against the importation of Wolfson’s digital-to-analogue converter products into the U.S.
