Google, EBay Infringe Online Payment Patent: Suits

Law360, New York (July 12, 2011, 8:43 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. and eBay Inc. on Tuesday were each slapped with lawsuits from a Texas patent-holding company that accused the Internet companies of infringing a patent covering online payments.

Plano, Texas-based Purple Leaf LLC said in two separate complaints filed in Texas federal court that its patent — U.S. Patent Number 7,603,311 B1 — covering a process for making efficient payments over the Internet has been infringed by Google and eBay.
