Madoff's Aide Denied 2-Week Fla. Getaway

Law360, New York (July 12, 2011, 5:18 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in New York on Monday refused to let Bernard L. Madoff's longime associate leave house arrest for a two-week trip to her home in Florida as she awaits trial over her alleged role in the massive Ponzi scheme.

U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain denied Annette Bongiorno’s bid to stretch her bail conditions and make room for a visit to her home in Boca Raton, Fla., finding little reason to indulge Madoff’s former helper with a 12-day getaway.
