Novartis Sales Reps File Suit Over Unpaid OT

Law360, New York (July 13, 2011, 10:19 PM EDT) -- Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. was hit Friday with a putative class action accusing the drugmaker of failing to compensate its sales representatives for overtime work in violation of federal wage law.

Novartis' violation of labor law was willful, as the company had already been told as early as 2006 — in previous lawsuits in California and New York — that its classification of sales representatives as exempt from Fair Labor Standards Act overtime requirements was unlawful, according to the complaint, made public Wednesday.
