Muhammad Ali Enters Ring Over 'Butterfly' Trademark

Law360, New York (July 14, 2011, 7:02 PM EDT) -- Muhammad Ali's publicity manager sued Kobo Inc. in New York federal court on Wednesday, accusing the e-book maker of cheapening the famed boxer's brand by using his "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" quote to advertise its electronic reading device.

Muhammad Ali Enterprises LLC claims that Kobo's unauthorized use of the boxer's iconic line in a New York Times Co. advertisement for the digital bookseller's eReader device infringes the licensing group's registered trademarks.
