NASA Must Re-Assess Contract Termination Risk: GAO

Law360, New York (July 14, 2011, 7:19 PM EDT) -- NASA does not generally monitor or track the potential cost of terminating its acquisition contracts, a hands-off strategy that could backfire as tightening budgets threaten cuts and program cancelations, the U.S. Government Accountability Office told Congress on Tuesday.

NASA procures most of its goods and services through contracts, and it has historically had very few cancelations, the GAO said in its report.
