Military Must Get Tough On Subpar Contractors: DOD

Law360, New York (July 15, 2011, 5:28 PM EDT) -- A U.S. Department of Defense report issued on Thursday warned U.S. Armed Forces contracting officers that their failure to recommend poorly performing contractors for suspension or debarment could allow such firms to continue receiving government work.

Poor performance is just one of the reasons that a contractor can face suspension or debarment, along with other grounds that include criminal and civil actions for fraud or misconduct. Those firms end up on the government's Excluded Parties List System, or EPLS, which contracting personnel check before awarding contracts....
