Hofstra Student Workers Triumph In FLSA Suit

Law360, New York (July 19, 2011, 2:21 PM EDT) -- Hoftstra University agreed Monday to pay up to $485,000 to settle claims from more than 250 student workers in New York alleging that the school failed to pay them minimum wage and adequate overtime compensation.

The plaintiffs asked the Eastern District of New York to approve the deal, which will provide $200,000 to cover the workers' claims as well as enhancement fees and administrative costs. The rest of the money will pay for the plaintiffs' attorneys' fees and expenses for the four-year-old suit.
