AT&T, Verizon Sued Over Caller ID Patent

Law360 (June 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California inventor filed suit Thursday against AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc., claiming the national telecommunications companies’ products infringe on his caller identification patent.

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Morris Reese alleges that AT&T and Verizon, along with Southwestern Bell Telephone LLP, which does business as AT&T Texas, and GTE Southwest Inc., also known as Verizon Southwest, are infringing on his patent with their Call Waiting ID telephone services.
