Texas Pol Wants Lying Charges Cut In Ike Bribery Case

Law360, New York (July 20, 2011, 7:50 PM EDT) -- A former Texas politician accused of helping funnel Hurricane Ike cleanup contracts to a friend on Tuesday sought to eliminate or sever three charges that he lied to federal investigators. 

Herman “Lee” Groce — a former Liberty County, Texas, commissioner — argues that charges of making false statements, which were included in a superseding indictment in June, are much too vague.
