Philip Stein Watches Can't Relieve Stress, Suit Says

Law360, New York (July 21, 2011, 4:49 PM EDT) -- A disgruntled customer slapped watchmaker Philip Stein Holding Inc. with a class action Monday in California state court, accusing the company of falsely claiming metal disks in its watches make wearers less susceptible to stress.

It is scientifically impossible for a watch to ease stress or improve sleep by changing a wearer's so-called energy field, as Philip Stein asserts in its marketing and advertising for its products, plaintiff Cara Shapiro says.
