Defective Parts Threaten Space, Missile Missions: GAO

Law360, New York (July 21, 2011, 7:01 PM EDT) -- Defective parts could derail expensive space and missile defense acquisitions by NASA and the military, and the federal government should conduct periodical reviews to ensure quality, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a report released Thursday.

At the request of Rep. John F. Tierney, D-Mass., the ranking member of the House subcommittee on national security, homeland defense and foreign operations, the GAO reviewed 21 U.S. Department of Defense and NASA projects in an advanced stage of design and with high projected costs.
