Judge Swats Most Claims In Bug-Filled Similac Action

Law360, New York (July 22, 2011, 4:01 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge on Friday tossed most of the claims in a proposed class action against Abbott Laboratories Inc. over insect parts found in the company's Similac baby formula, two weeks after another Illinois judge dismissed a similar suit entirely.

U.S. District Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer spared only three of plaintiff Alimah Gray's nine claims under Georgia state law. The ruling still put the suit in a more favorable position than a proposed class action over the allegedly bug-infested formula that was dismissed by U.S....
