Purple Leaf Sues Amazon Over Online Payment Patent

Law360, New York (July 26, 2011, 12:03 PM EDT) -- Purple Leaf LLC launched its latest in a series of patent suits on Monday in Texas, accusing online retailing giant Amazon.com Inc. of infringing a patent covering a system for online payments.

Patent-holding company Purple Leaf accused Amazon of infringing a patent that covers a process for making efficient payments over the Internet — particularly through its Amazon Payments unit, which allows customers to use the existing payment and shipping data in their Amazon accounts to make purchases from other retailers.
