Millions In U.S. Funds Reached Taliban, Report Says

Law360, New York (July 25, 2011, 7:53 PM EDT) -- Confirming what many in the government had suspected and feared, an unreleased military report obtained by the Washington Post showed how U.S. taxpayer money indirectly reached the Taliban through a $2.16 billion trucking contract in Afghanistan.

The report tracks money spent on the Host Nation Trucking contract, an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract to provide ground transportation in Afghanistan for over 70 percent of U.S. Department of Defense supplies, including food, fuel, equipment and ammunition, the Post said.
