9th Circ. Revives Suit Over MySpace Celebrity Pages

Law360, New York (July 25, 2011, 9:40 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit on Monday revived part of a Pennsylvania woman's fraud and breach of contract suit claiming MySpace Inc. used her idea for a celebrity-focused subdivision of the social networking website.

The ruling revives plaintiff Julie Riggs' breach of implied-in-fact contract claim. But the appeals court said that the district court properly dismissed her other claims of negligence and promissory fraud arising from the deletion of one of her MySpace profiles.
