DreamWorks Didn't Steal ‘Kung Fu Panda,' Jury Says

Law360, San Diego (July 26, 2011, 7:58 PM EDT) -- A California jury on Monday found in favor of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. in a suit alleging the studio breached an implied contract by stealing a media producer’s idea for the animated smash hit “Kung Fu Panda.”

The jury in Los Angeles agreed that Terence Dunn and DreamWorks entered into an implied-in-fact contract under which the studio agreed to pay for his movie idea if the company used it, but determined that DreamWorks did not actually use the plaintiff’s idea.
