Toyota Says It Doesn't Infringe Hybrid Engine Patents

Law360, New York (July 26, 2011, 1:31 PM EDT) -- Toyota Motor Corp. asked a California federal court last week to rule that it has not infringed five patents related to hybrid electric vehicle technology exclusively licensed by hybrid parts supplier Efficient Drivetrains Inc.

Toyota and its Torrance, Calif.-based subsidiary Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. filed a complaint on July 20 seeking a declaratory judgment that it has not infringed the five patents and that the patents are not valid.
