4Kids To Keep Ch. 11 Shelter Through 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' Trial

Law360, New York (July 26, 2011, 5:57 PM EDT) -- Children's entertainment company 4Kids Entertainment Inc. won approval Monday in New York to remain in bankruptcy protection while it battles a contract lawsuit lodged by the owners of the rights to the popular “Yu-Gi-Oh!” cartoon.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Shelley Chapman filed an order granting 4Kids' request to extend its exclusivity period — when it has the sole right to advance a Chapter 11 reorganization plan — by 90 days to accommodate a trial in the contract dispute set for Aug. 29.
