Contractor Sues US Over $12M Munitions Cleanup Bill

Law360, New York (July 26, 2011, 8:32 PM EDT) -- A contractor hired to dispose of leftover explosives at a U.S. Army base in New Mexico sued the federal government Tuesday, claiming it was blocked from completing the job and then unfairly stuck with a $12 million bill from its successor.

TPL Inc. held three contracts with the Army to dispose of pyrotechnic munitions at Fort Wingate, but legislative changes prevented TPL from pursuing plans to recycle the explosives for use in domestic fireworks or depose of them in a landfill, according to the complaint filed...
