Toys R Us Cheats Consumers Out Of Full Refunds: Suit

Law360, New York (July 27, 2011, 1:32 PM EDT) -- A California resident on Tuesday launched a putative class action in state court accusing Toys R Us Inc. of falsely advertising that consumers would receive full refunds when they returned items purchased with promotional gift cards and discounts.

The toy giant violated a California law that prohibits retailers from giving less than full cash or credit refunds unless they have announced a more restrictive policy, plaintiff Laura Maybaum alleges.
