Pentagon Moves Ahead On Acquisition Reforms

Law360, New York (July 28, 2011, 6:58 PM EDT) -- A U.S. Department of Defense official said Wednesday that the Pentagon was 18 to 24 months away from completing reforms aimed at increasing efficiency in procurements to funnel savings toward more productive programs.

Shay Assad, the DOD's director of pricing, announced progress in the department's Better Buying Power initiative. Policies and plans are already in place, but implementing the significant changes among some three million contracting actions would take some time, he said.
