NM Prison Exec Cops To Taking Contractors' Bribes

Law360, New York (July 29, 2011, 7:03 PM EDT) -- A former facilities manager for the New Mexico Corrections Department pled guilty Thursday to taking $237,000 in kickbacks in exchange for handing nearly $4 million in contracts to roofing company Omni Development Corp.

As part of the plea agreement, New Mexico Attorney General Gary King agreed not to pursue state charges against Laurie Chapman, who was indicted after Omni owner Anthony Moya taped a conversation with her discussing the kickbacks. The former prison official also agreed to forfeit more than $237,000, prosecutors said.
