PTSD Vets, Military Strike Deal For More Benefits

Law360, New York (July 29, 2011, 6:35 PM EDT) -- The U.S. reached a deal Thursday with a class of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans discharged for post-traumatic stress disorder, agreeing to provide lifetime benefits — including health and life insurance — to more than 1,000 soldiers.

Of the veterans medically discharged between 2003 and 2008 for PTSD, 1,029 will now be eligible to receive lifetime disability retirement benefits, according to the motion filed in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. The military also agreed to increase the PTSD disability rating for other class members, it said. ...
