Trustee Names New Century Examiner

Law360 (June 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After much wrangling, the U.S. Trustee in subprime lender New Century Financial Corp.’s Chapter 11 case on Tuesday asked the court to approve her appointment of an examiner.

U.S. Trustee Kelly Beaudin Stapleton asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware to approve the appointment of Michael J. Missal, a partner at Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP, as examiner in New Century’s case. The move comes three weeks after Judge Kevin Carey denied Stapleton’s motion seeking appointment as trustee in the case....
