Law360, New York (August 5, 2011, 1:37 PM EDT) -- Netherlands-based Upper Deck International BV filed a lawsuit in California federal court on Thursday against U.S. company The Upper Deck Co. LLC, claiming the domestic company's scheme to counterfeit Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards caused it to lose a lucrative contract.
The European company's lawsuit further alleges that the U.S. trading card seller borrowed $1 million to fund a settlement over the counterfeiting scheme, and that Upper Deck Co. is in breach of contract for not repaying the loan.
