Ban On UK L'Oreal Ads Has Global Implications

Law360, New York (August 26, 2011, 12:44 PM EDT) -- U.S. regulators are unlikely to follow in the footsteps of a recent decision by the U.K.'s advertising watchdog to ban two L'Oreal UK Ltd. advertisements as misleading for excessive photo retouches, attorneys say, but the case should give pause to companies that run global ad campaigns.

In July, the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that the retouching of images featuring supermodel Christy Turlington and actress Julia Roberts created an inaccurate representation of the results produced by the two cosmetics products being advertised.
