JPML Consolidates Jiffy Lube Spam Text Actions

Law360, New York (August 8, 2011, 7:36 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Monday consolidated in California federal court several class actions against Jiffy Lube International Inc. and a franchisee over allegations that the companies sent spam text messages to consumers without their consent.

All parties agreed to consolidate five class actions against Jiffy Lube and Heartland Automotive Services Inc. in the Southern District of California, where three of the cases were originally filed, according to a transfer order from the judicial panel.
