Gawker Tech Blog Won't Face Charges In IPhone Case

Law360, New York (August 10, 2011, 7:09 PM EDT) -- Gawker Media LLC's technology blog Gizmodo and its employees will not face criminal charges related to their purchase last year of a prototype of Apple Inc.'s then-unreleased iPhone 4 after it was accidentally left in a bar, state prosecutors in California announced Wednesday.

The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office charged two men with misappropriation of lost property for selling the prototype, which had been left in a bar by an Apple employee, to Gizmodo for $5,000. The site then published details about the new phone....
