Title Insurer Sues Great American Over Fraud Claims

Law360, New York (August 11, 2011, 2:08 PM EDT) -- Stewart Title Guaranty Co. on Wednesday sued Great American Insurance Co. in Texas, demanding coverage under a $15 million financial institution bond for claims stemming from alleged fraud by an agent of the title insurance company in real estate closings.

The insurer has refused to respond to coverage requests arising from former agent Arlene Raijman's alleged execution of forged closure documents, misappropriation of funds, conflicts of interest and other improper conduct, and subjected it to months of delay and unreasonable demands, according to STGC and its...
