DOD Issues Rules Of Conduct For War Zone Contractors

Law360, New York (August 11, 2011, 7:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense issued a final rule on Thursday establishing codes of conduct for DOD and State Department security contractors in war zones, including guidelines for reporting incidents, use of force and contractor training.

The rule finalizes a 2009 interim rule, with some alterations and responses to public comments. Although the Pentagon set broad guidelines, implementing the specifics will fall to regional commanders in charge of a particular war zone rather than applying uniformly to all security contractors.
