Disney Insider's Boyfriend Faces SEC Suit Over Trades

Law360, New York (August 11, 2011, 8:13 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday filed an insider trading suit against a California man who allegedly used information from his girlfriend to make a 3,000 percent profit on Marvel Entertainment Inc.'s sale to The Walt Disney Co.

The SEC claims that Toby G. Scammell, 26, made more than $192,000 in August 2009 by trading “highly speculative” Marvel call options bought with inside knowledge he obtained from girlfriend, then an extern in Disney's corporate strategy department.
