LinkedIn Pulls Plug On Social Ads Over Privacy Concerns

Law360, New York (August 12, 2011, 3:24 PM EDT) -- LinkedIn Corp. said Thursday that it had reversed course on social ads that would place users' photos and recommendations in advertising unless they opted out, canceling the plan after a backlash over privacy concerns.

LinkedIn had mostly avoided the privacy complaints lodged at other social networking sites, like Facebook, and the company said the change came after days of negative feedback from users, news stories and blog posts.
