Whole Foods Settles Action Over Bulk Discounts

Law360, Los Angeles (August 12, 2011, 5:15 PM EDT) -- A California judge granted preliminary approval Friday to a settlement between Whole Foods Market California Inc. and a putative class of consumers who say the natural foods grocery chain violated consumer protection laws by failing to deliver promised discounts on bulk purchases.

Judge James R. Dunn’s preliminary approval of the settlement marks the beginning of the end for a class action alleging the grocer’s 65 California stores advertised big discounts that many consumers never received.
