FCC Solicits Public Input On Sirius-XM Merger

Law360 (June 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Already facing stiff opposition from lawmakers and broadcasters, satellite radio providers Sirius and XM will now face public scrutiny over their proposed merger.

The Federal Communications Commission issued a notice Friday calling for comment on the planned union between the two, giving the public a month to voice their views.

The companies petitioned the FCC back in March to transfer control of their licenses pursuant to a merger plan which would see XM emerge as the sole satellite radio provider in the U.S.
