Volkswagen Finance Co. Sued Over False Credit Info

Law360, New York (August 15, 2011, 5:56 PM EDT) -- California car owners hit VW Credit Inc. with a proposed class action Friday, alleging the auto finance company violated consumer protection laws and breached customer contracts by sending false information to credit reporting agencies.

The complaint, filed in a California court, accuses VW Credit of sending notices to credit reporting agencies of defaults on payments for debt that either did not exist or was illegally assigned, in violation of the Rosenthal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
