Ex-Ohio Judge Denied Corruption Sentence Stay

Law360, New York (August 15, 2011, 6:05 PM EDT) -- A former Ohio state judge facing 14 months in prison for lying to FBI agents during a corruption investigation involving government contract bids failed to secure a stay of her sentence on Saturday.

Former Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Bridget M. McCafferty had asked a federal court for either a stay while she appeals her conviction to the Sixth Circuit or a postponement of her sentence due to her mother's terminal illness.
