Fashion Photog Sues Sephora Over Ad Campaign

Law360, New York (August 15, 2011, 6:25 PM EDT) -- Fashion beauty photographer Akos Simon took aim at cosmetics retailer Sephora USA Inc. on Friday in New York federal court with a copyright infringement suit alleging two recent product campaigns were copied from his photos.

Simon's complaint names Sephora, photographers Sarah Silver and David McIntyre, and cosmetics manufacturer Tokidoki LLC as defendants. The suit claims Sephora, which is owned by Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, stole the concept of his "Water Series" and “Cartoon Girl” works for marketing campaigns designed to promote new Tokidoki-branded products, according to...
