Best Buy Dodges Warranty Suit After Damages Vanish

Law360, New York (August 16, 2011, 7:36 PM EDT) -- A class of over 100,000 consumers was forced Monday to drop its suit against Best Buy Co. and American International Group Inc. over hidden warranty terms, after the plaintiffs' expert witness found there were no damages in the case.

The suit, filed in 2006, accused Best Buy of failing to tell customers about unfavorable terms and hidden charges in its extended warranties. The warranties, known as performance service plans, or PSPs, were serviced by AIG's warranty division.
