DOD's Shoddy Bookkeeping Costs US Millions: Sens.

Law360, New York (August 16, 2011, 3:22 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan group of U.S. senators slammed the U.S. Department of Defense on Monday for keeping poor accounting records that will make it difficult to collect hundreds of millions of dollars that contractors owe to the government.

The lawmakers — Sens. Tom Carper, D-Del., Scott Brown, R-Mass., Tom Coburn, R-Okla., and Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. — demanded more information from the DOD on outstanding contractor debts.
