Freescale Sues Vizio, Others Over Circuitry Patent

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 2:06 PM EDT) -- Freescale Semiconductor Inc. sued Vizio Inc., Sharp Corp., Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd. and others in Texas on Tuesday, claiming the circuitry in televisions made, sold or imported by the defendants infringes a Freescale patent.

Austin, Texas-based Freescale's one-count complaint seeks increased damages because of the defendants' allegedly willful and deliberate infringement, as well as a permanent injunction barring infringement of the patent-in-suit. In the past, Freescale has asserted the same patent against companies including Zoran Corp. and Panasonic Corp.
