Metabolife Settles More Ephedra Claims

Law360, New York (June 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Metabolife International Inc. on Thursday settled with six estates in ongoing multidistrict product liability litigation over its diet pills containing ephedra.

The company, which went defunct from the slew of litigation stemming from dangers related to its once best-selling weight control and energy boosting pills, did not mention in court documents what the settlements were worth.

Settlements were also reached between the ephedra plaintiffs and MuscleTech Research and Development Inc., General Nutrition Corp., Herbalife International Inc. and AST Sports Science in the New York district court....
